Installation and Operation Manual for JTW-LD-KC82001/85 & JTW-LD-KC82001/105 Cable-Type Linear Heat Detectors

1. Overview

The JTW-LD-KC82001/85 and JTW-LD-KC82001/105 Cable-Type Linear Heat Detectors (hereinafter referred to as “the Detector”) are non-resettable fire detection products. Designed in compliance with the Chinese National Standard GB16280-2014 Linear Heat Detectors, they provide fixed-temperature fire detection and alarm functionality. The system consists of a sensing cable, a signal processing unit, and a terminal unit. It utilizes relay-based dry contact outputs for seamless integration with fire alarm control panels from various manufacturers. These detectors are widely used in industrial environments such as metallurgy, power, and petrochemical facilities for early-stage fire detection.

2. Working Principle

The linear heat detection system comprises three components: the sensing cable, signal processing unit, and terminal unit. The sensing cable employs a three-core structure:

  • Conductor ① (coated with thermosensitive material),
  • Conductor ②,
  • A multi-strand metallic wire.

Conductor ① and the multi-strand metallic wire are wrapped in aluminum foil. The resistance between them varies with ambient temperature. Conductor ② and the multi-strand metallic wire maintain stable resistance below the non-activation temperature. However, resistance drops irreversibly when ambient temperature reaches or exceeds the alarm threshold.

The signal processing unit monitors the sensing cable continuously via internal circuits (signal acquisition, amplification/conversion, and display circuits). It triggers alarms for abnormal temperature rises, cable breaks, or short circuits.

8. Installation Guidelines

8.1 Sensing Cable Installation

  • Ensure insulation resistance >20MΩ between power terminals (D+/D-) and ground.
  • Install in a continuous, tap-free, branch-free layout. Use dedicated junction boxes for splices.
  • Preferred methods: Linear, spiral, or sinusoidal routing. Maximize contact with protected surfaces using clamps.
  • Avoid sharp bends (minimum radius **>0.2m**), impacts, or compression.
  • Post-installation: Verify insulation integrity and waterproofing.
  • Prohibited: Use in environments exceeding 50°C/70°C or on surfaces >50°C/70°C.

8.2 Signal Processing Unit & Terminal Unit

  • Mount indoors at 1.5m height on walls/frames. For outdoor use, install in weatherproof enclosures.
  • Ensure sealing to maintain IP rating and prevent false alarms.

8.3 Post-Installation Test

Perform a fire alarm simulation using the ”Fire Test” button.

9. Troubleshooting

  1. Check LED indicators for fault type.
  2. Use dedicated junction boxes for cable splices.
  3. For intermittent alarms:
    • Inspect sealing of units and junction boxes.
    • Check for cable damage.
    • Verify terminal connections.
  4. Contact manufacturer if unresolved.
